At this year's Google I/O, we were introduced to Android Instant Apps — a new take on how apps can run instantly without the need to download them. Wait, what? Run the app without installing? This got our team curious so we dived right in to see how Instant Apps could be incorporated into our very own Prott Viewer for Android.

What's All the Buzz About? 🐝

Instant Apps solves the hassle that users face of always being redirected and having to download an app before viewing shared content. Instant Apps bypass the installation step and takes the user directly to the part of the app that they need. How is this done you ask? Well simply put, the app is broken down into modules. Only the code necessary to display the portion of the app are downloaded so users can instantly access the app. This allows for a seamless mobile app experience as it brings users to the native app in a quicker, hassle free, way.

So what value do Instant Apps bring to the Prott Viewer app? Well there's a few things worth mentioning.

Seamless 👌

The Prott Viewer app becomes effortless than ever before by removing the friction of having to install the app to preview and comment. This means once you send your preview URL of your prototype, all that a reviewer will need to do is simply tap on the preview URL of the prototype and violà! Reviewers can immediately begin to preview and comment from the Viewer app. Easy peasy.

Increase in Collaboration Efforts 👩‍💻👨‍💻

Since the launch of Instant Apps, we've heard stories of how some apps have doubled their app sessions or increased their session duration by +130%. By creating a more seamless way for reviewers to preview and comment from the Viewer app, we believe this will translate to an increase in the engagement from reviewers.
